Join the Circle of Inclusion

By creating a more inclusive volunteering landscape, the Circle of Inclusion project not only benefits individuals with disabilities but also strengthens communities as a whole.

Many individuals with disabilities face significant barriers to employment and social integration, often feeling isolated and marginalised.

The "Circle of Inclusion" project seeks to address this issue by developing

tailored volunteer roles that cater to the unique needs, skills, and preferences of people with disability.

Who can get involved?

The Circle of Inclusion aims to support all individuals with disability or those recovering from Mental Health challenges, some of these conditions include

  • Physical Disabilities: Individuals with mobility impairments, visual or hearing impairments, or other physical limitations that may impact their ability to perform certain tasks.

  • Cognitive Disabilities: Individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, or other neurodevelopmental conditions that affect cognitive processing and communication.

  • Developmental Disabilities: Individuals with lifelong disabilities that arise during the developmental period, such as Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, or fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.

  • Psychosocial Disabilities: Individuals with mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

We believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute and deserve equal opportunities to participate in their communities. Through volunteering, individuals with disabilities can gain a sense of purpose and belonging while making a positive impact on others. It also allows them to develop new skills, build confidence and self-esteem, and expand their social networks.

What Support do we provide?

Our project strives to provide support and accommodations for individuals with disabilities who wish to volunteer. We understand that each person's needs may be unique, and we are committed to working with volunteers to find the best ways to accommodate their abilities.

Some examples of support we can provide include:

  • Accessibility: We work closely with our participants and volunteer organisations to ensure that all volunteer opportunities are accessible for individuals with disabilities. This may include providing wheelchair access, assistive technology, or other accommodations as needed.

  • Training and guidance: We work with participants to understand what their volunteer roles may look like, what to expect in their workplace and how to self-advocate for their individual needs.

  • Skill Building: We work with participants and their supports to develop their confidence and workplace skills such as: communicating confidently, organisation in the workplace, time management, problem solving and independence.

  • Social Inclusion: We recognise the importance of social connections and work to provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to expand their networks and make new friends through our volunteer program. This can help to reduce isolation and promote a sense of belonging within the community.

Our goal is to ensure that individuals with disabilities have equal access and opportunity to participate in meaningful volunteer work.
